The universe is probably berating you for not keeping up those New Years Resolutions. I’ve read that most people ditch them by January 9th. Well, that’s not even giving yourself a fighting chance since habits really don’t truly form until an average of 66 days or so. So, real talk - how are you habits going? I personally deactivated Instagram (it feels AMAZING) and in that time that I used to scroll, I have kept up a movement routine weekly, I’ve read over 5 books, I started journaling weekly again, and I actually feel present and like I’ve slowed down a bit. That’s also probably because it’s negative temperatures outside and I don’t want to leave my apartment. But, I also contribute that to focused time and consistency in my habits. No need to beat yourself up and give up if you lost your habits or maybe haven’t even started. There is always a new day, a new week, a new month, a new opportunity to turn the page and start anew. So, may February be your opportunity to be intentional and form a new habit. Something really good for you. Maybe something that even sparks some joy. Let your new habit support your inner peace. This month, 20% of our proceeds will go to Monarca. They are a coalition of thousands of workers, students, people of faith, parents, clergy, business owners, teachers, caregivers, and young people. They are a movement that has trained over 20,000 everyday Minnesotans as neighborhood observers to help protect people’s rights where it matters most - on the ground, in their communities. They stand for the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including free speech, peaceful protest, and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures. These rights are the backbone of a healthy democracy. They’re about dignity, privacy, and safety in our own homes and neighborhoods. They have a rapid response line and additionally host trainings on how to be an Upstander. They also have many free resources accessible on their website: https://monarcamn.org/ Please take this time to do some homework on how you can best support those in your own community as well.
