What is holding you back from working out? Time? Motivation? Not sure what to do? Here are three simple steps to get you moving: 1) Do the type of movement you like - walking, hiking, dancing in your living room, getting on your Mat, signing up for a class. Whatever feels easy and enjoyable. Any form of movement counts! 2) Don’t judge the time - a workout can truly be 10-15 minutes, it doesn’t have to be a full hour or more to count. Short and sweet build consistency! 3) Celebrate your wins rather than beat yourself up on the losses - you moved two more times this week than normal? Fantastic! Focus on that win rather than the other five days of the week. Maybe next week will be three times, then four, etc. Working out doesn’t have to be so formal. Especially when you are working to build back to a routine that feels good, is enjoyable and is manageable. And best part? My on-demand library has short video workouts to add to your mix. What are you waiting for? Go move your body because you deserve it. And you are so fortunate to be able to move it. And that’s worth celebrating. This month, 20% of our proceeds will be contributed to the NAACP. They are the home of grassroots activism for civil rights and social justice. They advocate, agitate, and litigate for the civil rights due to Black America. In our cities, schools, companies, and courtrooms, they are the legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshall, and many other giants. They envision an inclusive community rooted in liberation where all persons can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination. Their mission is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color. They are committed to a world without racism where Black people enjoy equitable opportunities in thriving communities. Their work is rooted in racial equity, civic engagement, and supportive policies and institutions for all marginalized people. Some of their current initiatives are Stop Dirty Data Centers, Make Health Equitable, Staying Safe During Protest, Mobilizing Voters, Advocacy in Action: Environmental and Climate Justice, and through the NAACP Empowerment Programs.
